HOSEA 7:9 [NLT]
Worshiping foreign gods has sapped their strength, but they don’t even know it.
Their hair is gray, but they don’t realize they’re old and weak.
Weary, confused, lonely, heartbroken, and WEAK.
Just... WEAK.
Ignorance is not the issue here. I know You are the answer.
Bearing witness to Your move and experiencing your goodness first-hand.
I still chose a life of whoredom and lawlessness.
Once upon a time, You were my dearest possession.
But I slowly realised that my “Happily Ever After” was contingent on my obedience to The Word.
I lost interest and shifted my allegiance.
Haunted by memories of rejection, delay, and misfortune
I gave myself over to the fleeting pleasures of sin.
My fingers partook and my eyes beheld
The gross images of image-bearers whose shame was uncovered.
Exchanging my purpose for pleasure… I SPIRALLED
Out-of-control
Whirlwind, typhoon
Destroying my peace of mind
With counterfeit sources capturing my attention
Drawing nigh to God was the last item on my to-do list.
Maybe the devil will leave me alone if I do what he wants just ONE. LAST. TIME.Lies… All lies!
But with kisses so soft, he cajoles me,
Causing me to forget the hangover.
Making me believe that things will actually be different this time.
But no more.
No more idols of gold blatantly erected.
No more meaningless pleasure.
I’m going home to my Father,
I’m returning my heart to its rightful owner.
