Exposed Genitals

“Marry a whore.”

Those were God’s words to Hosea, the first instructions he received. Hosea did it. “Not of God” are the words that would first come to my mind. Often times God gives instructions that really does not make sense to us. Why would God tell someone to marry a whore?

The message God was giving through Hosea was that He wanted to restore His people. He used Hosea’s relationship with Gomer to show what His relationship with Israel had become. They had gotten into so much mess and they were comfortable. A holy nation relaxed in mud and dirt. Where are you? 

Your relationship with God is not an open relationship. So why do you treat it like one? God is ready for His people to be whole, not broken. He is ready to heal. Depression, confusion, pornography, adultery, fornication, masturbation, lying, stealing and failure are not places we should dwell. Get it right! Get up and get yourselves washed.

There is no going back. Once you leave the mud there is no going back to it. In Hosea chapter 2, it says she will look for her lovers but will not find any. The children of Israel, after they had crossed the red sea, had no way of turning back even though they wanted to. The path was closed. God ensured that they had no choice but to go forward. It was the same in the passage; he ensured they had nothing to go back to. No more Baal worship and promiscuous sex. At this point you have no choice but to go forward. God has ensured that the door behind you has been shut.

All genitals exposed. Israel was a whore. God exposed Israel. He listed all the things they had no business being in but were in anyways. No corners left in the dark, all their works were exposed. He did this so they could be dealt with. He will destroy everything that has to do with the mess you are coming from. No evidence that the place even existed. He will wash you so you can call Him husband again.

In short, do what God says, watch where you go, give him everything and build a relationship with Him. He is after a relationship with you. He wants you, all of you. Genitals included.
