A Heart to Heart

Just like the Israelites, He hears my cries and delivers me.   

I am very much like the Israelites and I believe we all are in some ways. In bondage, we cry out to God to deliver us and set us free, and when we finally taste freedom, we rejoice. Then we are brought to the wilderness, where we face trials and are surrounded by dead things and tough situations. We then beg to be back into slavery, back to the situations God delivered us from. Back to bondage, back to the sin. It brings a sense of familiarity because there is where we feel comfortable. But, God doesn’t want us to be just comfortable and he doesn’t want us to be bonded in sin. He wants us to experience freedom in Him. Experience the weight of His Glory, the outpouring of His blessings and feel His hand on us. But to reach this, - for us to taste the milk and honey, to conquer the land that was promised to us- we have to go through the wilderness. We have to face drought, experience losses and be surrounded by dead things. Don’t let the blessings of God and the promise of God upon your life skip a generation because you are not content in the season you are in, thus causing you to be disobedient. Don’t let the responsibilities and promises slip through your grasp because you were too comfortable in the wilderness. It took the spies of Israel DAYS to enter the promised land and back, and yet, it took the Israelites a journey of 40 YEARS.   

Don’t die in the place you were only supposed to pass through. Don’t stay there and dwell. Don’t let the promise and future destined for you, skip you. Take up your mat and walk, take up your mantle and continue your journey because greater is coming and , even though it may seem long, the wilderness is really for a short time.  

It's truly comforting to know that the Lord was always there. Despite getting angry at the children of Israel, He still provided for them and brought them to the promised land. He still fulfilled His promise. So shall His word be that goes forth out of His mouth: it shall not return void, but it shall accomplish that which He please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto it was sent.
