Savage... Diary of a Jealous God

What am I to do with you? What do I make of you? Your declarations of love last no longer than ice-cream in the burning sun. That’s why I use prophets to shake you to attention, why my words slay you: to wake you up to my judgment blazing like light. I’m after love that lasts, not more religion. I want you to know God, not go to more prayer meetings. You broke the covenant—just like Adam! 

You broke faith with me—ungrateful wretches! (Hosea 6:4-7 MSG)

You refuse to take correction. A part of the vine that desires to be big and glorious… to be seen. The dead parts of your life that should have been removed are now being used to bring attention and glory. No need for pruning or purging, proud tombs painted white. I correct those I love, my children. You make it seem as if I hate you. Ignoring my correction and my rod to be comfortable. You do not know me. How can you know me and not be corrected? How can you be my child and not be disciplined?

My grace is not an excuse. It’s to help you, not to hide you while you create a “holier than thou” image . You have gotten comfortable with the skeletons in your closet. You do what you please then come into my presence, proud and relying on grace.

Your hearts remain whole. You have not torn your garments muchless your hearts. Your appearance is like a king but your odor is as the sewers… unclean. Proud tombs and smelly kings. I am not interested in the fake prayers or empty declarations. You are empty, you have no substance.

I love you and I want you to know me. I want you to have a relationship with me, I want you to know my ways.

“Even now,” says the Lord , “Turn and come to Me with all your heart [in genuine repentance], With fasting and weeping and mourning [until every barrier is removed and the broken fellowship is restored];

Rip your heart to pieces [in sorrow and contrition] and not your garments.” Now return [in repentance] to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in loving kindness [faithful to His covenant with His people]; And He relents [His sentence of] evil [when His people genuinely repent].
